Obituary of Mary E. Johnson

Mary E. Johnson, 82, of Lorraine, died Tuesday April 28, at Samaritan Medical Center. A Memorial Service will be 11:00 am Saturday, May 2 at the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams, with Rev. Al Dowker, pastor of the Honeyville Baptist Church officiating. Calling hours will be Friday from 5:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be private. Born June 7, 1932 in Rices Hill, daughter of Gordon and Charlotte (Vrooman) Ives, she graduated from Adams High School in 1951. She married William G. Johnson of Lorraine on July 28, 1951 in the Adams United Methodist Church. The couple have lived in Lorraine all their married life. Mrs. Johnson owned and operated for many years Johnson’s Bakery and was known for her pies and donuts. Later she worked for a few years at the Lorraine Post Office as a postal assistant. Surviving besides her husband are three sons, William W. (Mary) Johnson, Chaumont, C.J. (Dianna) Johnson, Lorraine, David (Beth) Johnson, Lorraine; one daughter, Karen (Todd) Petrie, North Syracuse; nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one brother, Frank Ives, Elbridge, and several nieces and nephews. She enjoyed crocheting and playing cards. She was also an avid NY Yankees and Syracuse University Basketball fan, but especially she enjoyed her summers at the lake and spending time with her family.
